2025 GQ Men of the Year Awards: Menswear Edition
After dedicating an entire article to the ladies of the GQ Men of the Year Awards — and expressing my bewilderment at most of their choices — it feels almost poetic that the men arrived ready to restore the balance. While the women grappled with mismatched themes, questionable fabrics, and styling decisions, the men turned the red carpet into a masterclass in sleek tailoring, and well-judged flair.

Pierce Brosnan continues his streak as Hollywood’s suavest elder statesman, arriving in a pinstripe three-piece Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann suit topped with a sweeping black overcoat. The styling leans old-school but never dusty, and that textured scarf adds just enough personality. He looks exactly how you hope a former 007 would turn up — charismatic, sharp, and entirely at ease.

Skepta stepped out wearing his own label, Mains, and the windswept tie detail instantly added an offbeat twist. Menswear can become formulaic quickly, but this is where personal signature pays off. It’s crisp, it’s intriguing, and it feels unmistakably him.

Benito Skinner chose Prada, and while it wasn’t the loudest look of the night, it was absolutely one of the most considered. The cut, the subtle gloss of the fabric, and the confident simplicity all leaned into Prada’s knack for quiet sophistication.

Gavin Casalegno wore Dolce & Gabbana and leaned into the brand’s classic red-carpet formula: clean lines, and plenty of charm. The suit featured pinstripe-effect black crystal embroidery, which added a subtle gleam under the lights and elevated the tailoring.

Malachi Kirby also reached for Prada, delivering one of the evening’s most refined black suits.

Max Parker brought a lighter tone to the sea of blacks and greys with a cream Dolce & Gabbana pinstripe suit. It was relaxed yet structured, summery yet formal. A tricky balance — and he pulled it off.

Tom Hiddleston wore Ralph Lauren, reminding us why velvet is a perennial red carpet favourite for winter. The deep burgundy shade, paired with his signature understated charm, made the whole look feel rather lush.
Zawe Ashton, beside him in a Dima Ayad off-the-shoulder metallic-cloqué gown, looked beautiful — especially considering she recently welcomed her second child. The sculptural sleeves may divide opinion, but they’re very much part of Zawe’s established red carpet language. She gravitates toward architectural shapes and textured fabrics, and this fits that pattern in a way that feels true to her. The dress has presence, but she still looks comfortable, confident, and beautifully herself.
