Artcurial appoints a new head of its Luxury Fashion & Accessories department

Lucile Best will bring her hybrid background to the French auction house, having honed her skills as an expert in auctions and vintage fashion and accessories.

Things are definitely on the move at Artcurial…

The company, which describes itself as France’s leading auction house based in Paris, has just announced the appointment of Lucile Best as head of its Luxury Fashion & Accessories department.

This comes on the heels of two major firsts: a few days earlier, on January 13 and 14, the first Paris Luxury Days, dedicated to jewelry and watchmaking, and a month and a half after organizing, in early December, the very first charity auction of French haute pâtisserie.

A fifteen-year-old department

For her part, Lucile Best takes the reins of a department that was created fifteen years ago within Artcurial. She will be responsible for organizing two annual physical sales sessions, Hermès & Luxury Bags, in January in Paris and in July at the Hôtel Hermitage in Monaco, as well as online-only sales throughout the year, bringing together exceptional pieces from the world’s leading luxury brands, such as Hermès, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Martin Margiela. The next digital session will be held from April 2 to 7.

Lucile Best will soon be organizing her first appraisal days, alongside Artcurial’s Jewelry and Collectible Watches departments, in Monaco (on Tuesdays February 10, March 24, April 28, and May 26, 2026), Cannes (Wednesdays, March 25, April 29, and May 27, 2026) and in Belgium (Tuesdays, March 17, April 14, and May 12, 2026).

Hybrid career path

Lucile Best’s hybrid career path—both at Sotheby’s auction house and luxury vintage e-commerce platforms—should enable her to approach her new role with expertise and ease.

With dual degrees as an auctioneer (in 2015) and from the National Institute of Gemmology (in 2019), she joined Sotheby’s in Paris in 2014, working in the Inventories and Decorative Arts & Collections departments. In 2016, she was appointed senior expert in vintage jewelry, fashion, and leather goods at the online sales platform Vestiaire Collective, also based in the French capital.

In 2021, without leaving Paris, she moved to Catawiki, the Dutch online auction platform for rare and collectible items. Appointed as a fashion expert, “she has notably developed sales of high-end leather goods and vintage luggage.”

This has prepared her well for her new role.
